8BitDo Unveils 'Water Blue Transparent' Keyboard and Controller to Celebrate N64's 30th Anniversary
Gaming peripheral maker 8BitDo has unveiled a striking new “Water Blue Transparent” colorway for two of its flagship products — the Retro Mechanical Keyboard and the Ultimate 2 True Wireless PC Controller — as a loving tribute to the Nintendo 64 on its 30th anniversary.

The translucent blue aesthetic is an unmistakable nod to the iconic “Ice Blue” N64 consoles and controllers that defined an era of gaming in the late 1990s. 8BitDo says the design is meant to evoke “the shared gaming memories of countless players,” capturing the spirit of a console that introduced 3D gaming to the masses with titles like Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The 8BitDo Retro Mechanical Keyboard in this new colorway features a tenkeyless (TKL) layout, tri-mode connectivity (Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, and wired USB-C), and the brand’s signature programmable Super Buttons — oversized, mappable inputs that sit alongside the keyboard for a playful, arcade-like feel. It is priced at 529 yuan (approximately $73 USD).

The companion controller, the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 True Wireless PC Edition, packs TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) joysticks for drift-free precision, dual-mode trigger switching, a built-in six-axis gyroscope, and extra programmable shoulder buttons. It comes with an auto start/stop charging dock and is priced at 269 yuan (around $37 USD).
Both products continue 8BitDo’s tradition of blending retro-inspired aesthetics with modern gaming functionality. While the design language is unmistakably nostalgic, the internals reflect contemporary expectations: hot-swappable switches on the keyboard and hall-effect-grade sensors on the controller ensure these are not merely shelf ornaments but serious tools for everyday play.
