Apple Releases iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 Developer Beta 1
Apple kicked off the next major software cycle for iPhone and iPad on Tuesday, seeding the first developer betas of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 to registered developers.
The builds (numbered 24A5355q) are available now through the Apple Developer Center or via an over-the-air update on devices enrolled in the program. Developers can install the beta by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates after signing into their Apple Developer account. A public beta, available through the Apple Beta Software Program, is expected in the coming weeks.
The release comes alongside betas for macOS 27.0 and visionOS 27.0, suggesting a coordinated push across Apple’s entire ecosystem. Apple has been iterating rapidly on iOS 27 since its initial unveiling — the previous beta 2 cycle brought features like Siri-powered writing tools, spending insights in Wallet, and RCS inline replies.
Apple has not yet published the full release notes for iOS 27 Beta 1, but the company typically reserves the first beta of a new version cycle for foundational changes and under-the-hood refinements before rolling out more visible features in subsequent builds.
For developers, this is the signal to start testing their apps against the next-generation OS. For users, the public preview is likely a few weeks away.
