BYD Announces Seal 08 Launch for July 2, Flagship Ocean Network Sedan
BYD has officially set a July 2 launch date for the Seal 08, the flagship sedan of its Ocean Network lineup, following a global debut in March and a blind ordering period that has already attracted significant buyer interest.
The Seal 08 arrives as BYD’s most ambitious sedan yet under the Ocean series, packing a laundry list of advanced technologies including flash charging capability, rear-wheel steering, the Yunian-A active body control system, and the second-generation blade battery. The vehicle is offered in both pure electric and plug-in hybrid (DM-i) variants.
A Premium Interior Experience
Inside, the Seal 08 features front dual zero-gravity seats with ventilation, heating, and massage functions across all seating positions. A welcome light carpet greets passengers, while four-door soft-close operation and dual-layer soundproof glass throughout the cabin aim for a hushed, premium ride. The interior also includes eight magnetic expansion points and a car-grade tissue box holder — thoughtful touches for daily usability.
BYD is offering several exterior color options including Obsidian Black, Sea Mist Purple, Sterling Silver, Akoya Coral Red, and Cloud White, paired with interior choices such as Cloud Frost Rice, Twilight Rice, Tobacco Brown, and Twilight Purple.
Under the Hood
The pure electric version rides on an 800V high-voltage platform, while the DM-i plug-in hybrid variant uses a 115 kW (154 hp) gasoline engine as part of its hybrid system. The sedan measures 5,150 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm — placing it firmly in the large executive sedan segment.
Standard equipment across all trims includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), underscoring BYD’s push to make intelligent driving features more accessible.
Deployment Across China
First batch display vehicles are already arriving at dealerships in major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Jinan, Xi’an, Nanjing, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Fuzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Qingdao, Baoji, Suzhou, Wuxi, Dongguan, Foshan, and Mianyang, according to BYD’s Ocean Network sales division general manager Zhang Zhuo.
With its combination of luxury appointments, cutting-edge powertrain technology, and aggressive pricing strategy, the Seal 08 positions itself as a serious contender in China’s increasingly competitive flagship EV sedan market.
