Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit is set for September — and the 2nm chips are coming
Qualcomm confirmed the dates for this year’s Snapdragon Summit through an Instagram post early Tuesday: September 22 through 24 in Hawaii. The announcement itself is routine — but what’s coming is not.
This should be Qualcomm’s most consequential chip launch in years. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series is expected to move the company’s flagship mobile silicon to 2-nanometer process technology for the first time, putting it on equal footing with Samsung’s Exynos 2600 on process geometry.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro will be the showcase pieces. Based on Qualcomm’s usual product timeline, both chips will likely power the next wave of mainstream Android flagships shipping next year.
The lineup might be more complicated than two chips, though. According to Android Authority, recent leaks suggest Qualcomm’s 2026 portfolio could be broader than just the Gen 6 generation. The company may also introduce a Pro variant of the current Gen 5 series built on 3nm process technology.
But the bigger question this year might not be about performance — it’s about price. Component costs for memory, storage, and processors have all been rising, and there’s growing discussion around how much the next Snapdragon generation will push up phone prices.
The summit is still three months away, so more leaks are all but guaranteed. Qualcomm’s new chips will likely bring real performance and process improvements. They’ll also come with higher bills for phone makers — and eventually, for buyers. Not everything between now and September will be good news.
