ASUS ROG's new 31.5-inch monitor switches between 4K 240Hz and FHD 480Hz

ASUS dropped its ROG XG32UQWMS on JD.com Sunday, and the specs sheet reads like a wish list for competitive gamers who also want a gorgeous desktop display. The 31.5-inch monitor can toggle between 4K at 240Hz and 1080p at a blistering 480Hz — a dual-mode trick that lets you have retina-sharp detail for single-player titles and buttery-smooth response for esports, all on one panel.

The panel itself is LG Display’s latest Tandem WOLED, a fourth-generation WOLED design that stacks multiple light-emitting layers. ASUS claims the new architecture delivers 15% brighter peak highlights, 25% wider color volume, and 60% longer lifespan than the previous generation. For anyone who has worried about OLED burn-in on a daily driver monitor, those longevity numbers matter as much as the raw refresh rate.

Burn-in prevention gets a smart upgrade too. ASUS’s OLED Care Pro suite now includes a “Neo” proximity sensor that automatically dims the panel when you walk away from your desk. It’s a small detail, but the kind of thing that makes OLED more practical for mixed-use scenarios — work during the day, fragging at night.

The display uses a new TrueBlack Glossy coating that ASUS calls zero-haze — meant to cut reflections without the milky look that some matte anti-glare coatings create. There’s also Smart Pixel super-resolution for upscaling lower-resolution content, and ROG’s OLED anti-flicker technology to reduce eye strain.

ASUS squeezed the specs inside a much smaller chassis this time. The ergonomic stand is 45% more compact than the previous model, yet still offers full height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustment.

In terms of brightness, the monitor hits 330 nits in SDR and peaks at 1,500 nits in HDR, earning VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification. Color coverage is rated at 99.5% DCI-P3 with a delta-E under 2 — solid numbers for anyone doing creative work on the side.

Connectivity includes one DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 FRL6 ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, and two USB-A 5Gbps ports.

The price in China is 5,999 yuan (roughly $825). Whether it reaches global markets under the same SKU is unclear, but the ROG brand typically sells worldwide. For now, it’s available through JD.com.
