Cooler Master's new Thunder Gold PSUs pack ATX 3.1 at prices that undercut the competition

Cooler Master has a new PSU line on the market, and the pricing is aggressive. The Thunder Gold series — fully modular, 80 PLUS Gold rated — launched on JD.com Sunday in 750W and 850W variants, starting at ¥499 (about $69).

Both models tick the modern spec boxes. They support the ATX 3.1 standard and PCIe 5.1, which means a 12V-2x6 connector for RTX 40-series and upcoming GPUs. Japanese capacitors handle the filtering, and a 120mm fan — spinning at up to 2300 RPM ±10% — keeps temperatures in check.

The protection suite is complete: over-power, over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuit protection are all baked in. Cooler Master backs the series with a 5-year warranty.

At ¥499 for the 750W and ¥549 for the 850W, Cooler Master is pricing aggressively against brands like Thermalright and Thermaltake in the same ATX 3.1 segment. The fully modular cabling — with pre-sleeved, embossed cables — should also appeal to builders who care about clean routing in compact cases.

The Thunder Gold series is available now on JD.com in China. Global availability and pricing haven’t been announced yet.
