Huawei-Backed Qijing GT7 'Smart Shooting Brake' Enters Mass Production, Launch Set for June 26

The first mass-produced Qijing GT7 rolled off the assembly line on June 22, marking a major milestone for the Huawei-GAC joint effort that aims to redefine the electric shooting brake segment. The vehicle, co-branded under “Huawei Qiankun | Qijing,” will officially hit the market on June 26.

GAC Group released a comprehensive rundown of the GT7’s core highlights the same day. Positioned as a “next-generation smart shooting brake,” the GT7 blends elegant design, extreme driving dynamics, and all-scenario practicality. Pre-sale pricing ranges from ¥219,900 to ¥309,900 (approximately $30,200 to $42,500).

Under the skin, the GT7 packs an impressive tech arsenal. It features Huawei’s latest ADS 5 high-level intelligent driving system, a new dual-path image-grade LiDAR sensor, and the all-new HarmonySpace cockpit built on HarmonyOS. The car is also the first to deploy Huawei’s Qiankun Chitu platform. Every variant comes standard with CATL batteries, a closed dual-chamber air suspension, continuously variable damping control, and high-performance four-piston fixed brake calipers.

GAC’s manufacturing capabilities are equally notable. The production line churns out one complete vehicle every 53 seconds, backed by a millimeter-level AI quality inspection system that ensures manufacturing precision. The factory supports mixed-line production of over 100,000 configuration combinations spanning more than 20 body colors, with the fastest delivery promised within 14 days.

The manufacturing process involves several advanced techniques. In stamping, GAC has introduced full-surface springback analysis, die-surface compensation, and mesh-die forming — paired with laser welding — to produce a high-precision all-aluminum hood. The body welding stage features enhanced full-dimensional online monitoring that tracks body gaps and critical structural dimensions in real time. For the paint shop, GAC adopted a premium 3C2B+ two-station 2K finishing process using the same coatings found on luxury vehicles, with BASF-supplied custom paint formulations. AI equipment continuously monitors film thickness and color deviation to ensure a finish quality that matches luxury-brand standards.

The pre-sale pricing structure, first announced at last month’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Auto Show, breaks down as follows: the standard Qijing GT7 starts at ¥219,900; the Ultra trim at ¥249,900; the Ultra Long Range variant at ¥279,900; and the range-topping Ultra Tri-Motor AWD at ¥309,900.

With the GT7, Huawei and GAC are making a serious play in the premium electric vehicle space — combining Huawei’s full-stack smart vehicle technology with GAC’s manufacturing scale and expertise. The June 26 launch will reveal final specifications, delivery timelines, and whether the GT7 can deliver on its ambitious promise of merging luxury, intelligence, and performance in a distinctive shooting brake form factor.
