vivo thinks its X Fold6 will sell 30% more than the last one — here's why

vivo launched its latest foldable phone Thursday, and the company’s product VP is betting it’ll outsell the previous model by a wide margin. The X Fold6 starts at 7,999 yuan — roughly $1,100 — and comes with the kind of spec sheet that makes the price tag stand out.

Huang Tao, vivo’s vice president of products, told reporters after the launch event that he expects sales of the X Fold6 to climb at least 30% over the previous generation. “As a Pro-level product, the price is very, very attractive,” he said.

The confidence isn’t baseless. The X Fold6 packs a Dimensity 9500 Ultra Edition processor paired with a 7,000mAh battery — one of the largest capacities in any foldable on the market. The inner display is an 8.02-inch Samsung M14 panel running at 120Hz, while the outer screen measures 6.51 inches and comes from BOE, also at 120Hz.

Pricing breaks down across five configurations:

  • 12GB + 256GB: 7,999 yuan
  • 12GB + 512GB: 8,999 yuan
  • 16GB + 512GB: 9,999 yuan
  • 16GB + 1TB: 10,999 yuan
  • Black Gold limited edition, 16GB + 1TB: 11,299 yuan

On the software side, the X Fold6 runs OriginOS 6 Fold, vivo’s multitasking-focused take on Android for its foldables. The new “Atomic Workbench” supports both serial and parallel modes — you can run multiple apps on the same screen, juggling research, documents, writing, and messaging simultaneously.
