XPeng G9L SUV Packs 430kW Dual Motors and a 5.1-Meter Frame

XPeng is getting bigger — literally. The Chinese EV maker’s new G9L SUV, submitted for regulatory approval in China this week, measures over 5.1 meters long and delivers 430 kilowatts from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. It slots above the existing G9 in XPeng’s lineup as a large, five-seat crossover.

The dimensions are generous by any standard. The G9L comes in at 5,120 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and between 1,782 and 1,795 mm tall depending on configuration, with a 3,100 mm wheelbase. Curb weight ranges from 2,720 to 2,740 kg. With only two rows of seats in a body this size, rear legroom and cargo space should be substantial.

The powertrain uses separate motors on each axle. The front unit is rated at 50 kW continuous and 160 kW peak; the rear is larger at 110 kW continuous and 270 kW peak. Total system output is 430 kW — roughly 577 horsepower in imperial terms. Top speed is an electronically limited 200 km/h.

XPeng opted for a lithium iron phosphate battery pack sourced from CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery), with both individual cells and the complete pack manufactured by the same supplier. LFP chemistry keeps costs down while delivering reliable cycle life, consistent with XPeng’s strategy of keeping its volume models competitively priced.

Buyers will have a fair number of options to choose from. You can delete the electric side steps for a cleaner profile, pick between different headlight designs, front logos, rear badges, and wheel styles. Tire sizes range from 255/50R20 up to a staggered 265/40R22 front and 285/40R22 rear setup. An ETC onboard unit is optional, and the vehicle comes with an event data recorder as standard.

The G9L’s filing comes as XPeng pushes deeper into the SUV market. The company delivered 40,126 vehicles in June 2026, and a larger two-row variant like this gives customers a more spacious option without forcing them into a three-row layout they may not need.
