Apple Seeds iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6 RC to Developers

Apple pushed the Release Candidate builds of iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6 to developers and public beta testers early Tuesday morning. The RC builds carry version number 23G71 and arrive exactly one week after the fifth beta.

An RC — Release Candidate — is typically the last stop before a public launch. Unless testers uncover a last-minute showstopper, this build is what ships to everyone. Apple’s weekly beta cadence for the 26.6 cycle has held steady since the first beta landed on May 27, and today’s RC follows the same rhythm.

Registered developers can grab the update through Settings → General → Software Update. Public beta testers enrolled in Apple’s Beta Software Program get it from the same place, toggling Beta Updates in the Software Update menu.

The version history tells the story of a mature release cycle. iOS 26.6 started beta testing in late May with Beta 1 (23G5028e), followed by six more builds over seven weeks. Beta 2 arrived June 2, Beta 3 on June 30 — the same day Apple shipped iOS 26.5.2 to the public — and Beta 4 and Beta 5 landed on July 14 and July 7 respectively.

Apple hasn’t detailed specific new features in the 26.6 release. Like most mid-cycle dot releases, it bundles bug fixes and security patches alongside general performance improvements. The full release notes will surface once Apple posts its security content page alongside the public launch.

The stable version of iOS 26.6 is expected to reach all compatible iPhones and iPads within the next week or two, barring any RC-stage issues.
