GTA 6: 22 Gameplay Details Revealed — Fishing, Barn Finds, Vercetti Estate and More

GTA 6 is now available for pre-order, and Rockstar Games has unveiled the Ultimate Edition’s exclusive content — a collection of premium vehicles, weapons, outfits, and activities that also serve as a window into the game’s broader mechanics. With the November 19 release date still months away, the official store listings and recent reveals have already painted a remarkably detailed picture of life on the streets of Vice City. IGN has compiled 22 key gameplay details hiding in plain sight across Rockstar’s promotional materials, and we break them down below.

1. Gang Hideouts and Raid Mechanics

Rockstar describes the “Triggerfinger Youth Crew & Black Goods Warehouse” as a “gang hideout” that players will need to raid. Located in the rowdiest, most socially active part of southern Vice City, these hideouts function much like outposts or enemy strongholds found in other open-world titles — and this location appears to be just one of several such compounds scattered across Leonida.

After raiding a hideout, players must make a clean escape to secure special items and unique contraband. Where previous GTA games treated contraband as a mission-specific mechanic, the Ultimate Edition description hints that collecting and selling stolen goods could evolve into a full-fledged gameplay loop.

2. The Paradise Garage: Contraband Hub and Weapon Locker

The Ultimate Edition’s exclusive ‘67 Vapid Dominator Baja Edition is stored at the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay. The garage features a secure location to stash contraband and complete fencing operations — suggesting players may run an underground stolen-goods business. Supply sources likely extend beyond hideout raids to include the series’ signature heist missions.

The Paradise Garage also houses a weapon locker familiar to GTA Online veterans. Historically, characters lost all weapons upon hospitalization or arrest. Now, players can stash firearms in the locker before risky situations and retrieve them upon release — a quality-of-life upgrade with meaningful strategic implications.

3. Weapon Storage on Boats

The Ultimate Edition’s Shitzu “Think Happy” speedboat comes equipped with a “weapon case filled with explosives.” Whether this case is limited to bombs or can store a broader arsenal remains unclear, but it’s another data point suggesting equipment management will be more sophisticated this time around.

4. Car Trunks as Mobile Arsenals

The pre-order bonus ‘55 Vapid Stanier sedan also features a weapon locker. If both boats and cars can store weaponry, vehicle trunks may function much like the horse cargo system in Red Dead Redemption 2 — a portable extension of the player’s equipment loadout. Given GTA 6’s apparent emphasis on grounded life simulation, functional car trunks feel like a natural evolution.

5. Fishing Is Officially In

Rockstar’s description of the “Think Happy” speedboat explicitly mentions it’s well-suited for casting a line in Gambit Bay and reeling in a variety of fish, essentially confirming that fishing will become a proper activity in GTA for the first time.

If players can keep their catches, the game might introduce a new inventory system or even cooking mechanics. Alternatively, Rockstar could let players simply toss fish back to the dolphins — though the Ultimate Edition’s emphasis on depth suggests the former is more likely.

6. Underwater Exploration Returns

The “Think Happy” prominently displays diving equipment, confirming that underwater activities — a staple since GTA V — will return. Jason’s safehouse also includes a Crest-brand kayak and a Dinka Enduro dirt bike, hinting at a robust outdoor recreation layer.

7. Off-Road Racing and the Mud Club

The ‘67 Vapid Dominator Baja Edition is touted for its off-road handling, especially suited for regions like the Calaga Mountains wilderness. The listing also name-drops the “Mud Club,” and the first trailer famously featured a group of mud-enthusiasts gathered around trucks and beer. Players may be able to join the Thrillbilly Mud Club and compete in organized mud-circuit events.

8. Classic Car Restoration — GTA’s Barn Finds

The Ultimate Edition includes a “Special Commission” tasking players to locate multiple abandoned classic cars and restore them to their former glory. This system closely resembles Forza Horizon’s “Barn Finds” and could develop into a long-term side quest woven throughout the campaign. While classic car collecting is Ultimate Edition–exclusive, Leonida may offer other types of Special Commissions.

9. Deeper Vehicle Customization

Mod shops are confirmed to return with expanded capabilities. Beyond rims and paint jobs, players can customize car interiors and apply off-road conversion kits to turn ordinary vehicles into all-terrain machines. The Ultimate Edition also offers a retro-themed modification package for Jason’s Vapid Bull, suggesting that pre-built style packages — a one-click route to a cohesive look — will join the traditional part-by-part approach.

10. The Grotti Cheetah Returns

The ‘95 Grotti Cheetah needs no extra modification to turn heads. A series icon appearing in nearly every GTA since GTA III, the Cheetah returns with styling that nods to the Ferrari Testarossa-inspired design from the original Vice City, rather than the Enzo-based look from GTA V.

Rockstar notes the Cheetah is reserved for “later operations,” meaning Jason and Lucia may not gain access until the story’s back half.

11. Progressive Unlocking of Rewards

Rockstar has confirmed that Ultimate Edition rewards unfold across both protagonists’ stories, with new items discovered at the completion of each chapter. Rather than bombarding players with pop-ups at startup, bonuses unlock at specific narrative milestones — possibly with their own missions or story beats attached.

12. Ultimate Edition–Exclusive Shops

Several in-game businesses are “open only to Ultimate Edition owners,” including the Hundred Wheel Blast Custom and One-Eyed Willie’s mod shops, plus exclusive clothing stores, hair salons, and tattoo parlors. While the merchandise itself is exclusive, the store types reflect the broader scale of character and vehicle customization available to all players.

13. Hair, Beards, Nails — Full Salon Customization

Salon customization

Both Lucia and Jason can change their hairstyles, with Jason able to select different beard styles and Lucia able to get manicures. These services are provided by Sal’s Neutral Salon. The city may house additional salons catering to different clienteles with more granular services, and makeup customization for Lucia seems a logical next step.

Character accessories and jewelry

14. Jewelry and Accessories

New screenshots show both Lucia and Jason wearing earrings, necklaces, and other accessories — indicating character customization won’t stop at full outfits. Players may be able to select individual accessories piece by piece, adding a new layer of personal expression.

15. FAILE Tattoo Collaboration

The Electric Tusk is an Ultimate Edition–exclusive tattoo parlor offering over 50 designs created by Brooklyn art collective FAILE. Rockstar has a long history of bringing real-world artists into its fictional worlds — from radio station soundtracks to comedian cameos on in-game television — and FAILE’s involvement extends that tradition into body art.

16. In-Game Television and Alligator Mecca

Ultimate Edition rewards include outfits themed around Alligator Mecca, the star of a popular Leonida television series. Both GTA IV and GTA V allowed players to sit down and watch TV with full programming schedules, and GTA 6’s television sets appear fully functional. Mecca and his colorful cast of animal characters may feature in actual watchable shows.

17. Jason’s Safehouse and Core Systems

The house appearing at the start of the second trailer is officially identified as Jason’s “safehouse.” Expect the usual sleeping and saving functions, along with weapon lockers and other interactive amenities that make the space feel lived-in.

18. The Vercetti Estate Lives On

The Vercetti Estate on Starfish Island is among the most iconic safehouses in series history. In GTA 6’s fully reimagined Vice City, the Ultimate Edition confirms it still stands: players receive two Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers “from the Vercetti Estate.” This doesn’t necessarily mean players will visit the mansion in person, nor confirm Tommy Vercetti’s appearance, but it signals Rockstar’s intent to strengthen connections between the PS2-era “3D Universe” and the modern “HD Universe.”

GTA has traditionally kept these timelines separate, but GTA 6 may revise old lore or bridge the two worlds in some fashion. The second trailer already confirmed that “Phil” returns via television programming, reinforcing the callbacks.

The two Estate revolvers feature custom grips, engravings, and additional attachments — Jason’s even mounts an enormous high-powered scope, styled after the Equalizer revolver from Vice City Stories.

19. Custom Weaponry and Aesthetic Gunsmithing

Lucia and Jason each receive custom semi-automatic pistols in the Ultimate Edition. These bespoke weapons demonstrate that the modification system goes beyond practical attachments like suppressors and scopes — players can use visual customization to express character personality.

20. Separate Equipment Loadouts

That Lucia and Jason each have their own customized weapons suggests their equipment configurations are not fully shared. If vehicles function like Red Dead Redemption 2’s horse cargo, the two protagonists may carry limited weaponry on their person — no more pulling a rocket launcher out of thin air via the weapon wheel. Players might need to plan loadouts before missions: Lucia breaches with a shotgun and SMG while Jason provides overwatch with a sniper rifle. GTA V explored tactical choices through its three protagonists; GTA 6 may push that framework further.

21. “Retro Vice City” Pre-Order Bonus

Pre-ordering GTA 6 grants the “Retro Vice City” collection, a neon-drenched tribute to the 1980s. The headline reward is the ‘55 Vapid Stanaria — the yellow-and-white two-tone sedan perpetually parked outside the Ocean View Hotel in the original Vice City. Like the Paradise Garage vehicles, it features space to stash and fence contraband, reinforcing the importance of the stolen-goods economy.

Retro Vice City collection

The collection also includes a weapon pattern — essentially a gun skin — featuring the bright blue palm-tree motif from Tommy Vercetti’s signature Hawaiian shirt. Reward clothing and hairstyles don’t directly replicate the originals, but Jason’s rolled-sleeve linen blazer clearly channels Tommy’s light-blue Soiree suit, while the lavender trousers echo the two-piece worn by attorney Ken Rosenberg.

22. The Red Dead Connection — President Harding on Currency

A poolside screenshot reveals a folded stack of dollar bills bearing the portrait of an elderly man with a distinctive V-shaped notch in his beard and a matching hairline. Despite a money clip obscuring part of the face, these features identify the figure as President Harding — one of the U.S. presidents from Red Dead Redemption 2’s lore. Harding previously appeared on $100 bills, and similar currency surfaced in GTA Online updates. The detail adds weight to the theory that GTA and Red Dead share more than Easter eggs — they may inhabit the same world.

With pre-orders live at HK$568–708 and the Ultimate Edition packing a dense collection of exclusive vehicles, weapons, and activities, GTA 6 is shaping up to be Rockstar’s most mechanically ambitious title yet. From fishing trips in Gambit Bay to restoring barn-found classics and raiding gang strongholds across Leonida, the breadth of systems on display suggests a world built for depth as much as spectacle.
