GTA 6: 22 Gameplay Details Revealed — Fishing, Barn Finds, Vercetti Estate, and More

Grand Theft Auto VI is now available for pre-order, and Rockstar Games has unveiled the Ultimate Edition’s exclusive content — described as “a collection of exclusive premium vehicles, weapons, clothing, and activities.” Within the official materials, Rockstar has hidden dozens of gameplay details that paint the clearest picture yet of life on the streets of Vice City. IGN has compiled 22 notable discoveries, and IT-NEWS breaks them down below.

Gang Hideouts and the Underground Economy

The “Trigger Youth Gang & Black Goods Warehouse” is officially described as a “gang hideout.” Players will need to raid the stronghold of one of the loudest and most socially active gangs in southern Vice City — a structure reminiscent of outposts or enemy fortresses in other open-world titles. That particular location is likely just one of several gang hideouts available for assault.

GTA 6 gang hideout gameplay

After storming a hideout, players must escape safely to keep the special items and unique contraband they’ve acquired. While previous GTA titles frequently referenced contraband in passing, the Ultimate Edition description suggests that collecting and fencing stolen goods may evolve into a full-fledged gameplay loop.

The Ultimate Edition’s exclusive 1967 Vapid Roadster Baja Edition is housed at the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay. This garage features a secure location for storing stolen goods and completing fencing transactions — hinting that players may run some form of underground stolen-goods operation. The supply chain will likely include heists, a series staple, alongside gang hideout raids.

Weapons On Wheels

The Paradise Garage also includes a weapon locker familiar to GTA Online veterans. Previously, characters lost all their firearms after being hospitalized or arrested. Now, players can stash weapons in the locker and retrieve them after release.

The Ultimate Edition’s Shitzu “Think Happy” speedboat comes with a “weapon crate filled with explosives.” Whether the crate is limited to bombs or allows general weapon storage remains unclear, but the pre-order bonus 1955 Vapid Stanier sedan also features a weapon locker. If both boats and cars can store weapons, vehicle trunks may function like the horse inventory in Red Dead Redemption 2 — becoming an integral part of the character’s loadout system. In a game that clearly emphasizes realistic life simulation, usable car trunks hardly seem out of place.

Fishing, Diving, and the Great Outdoors

Rockstar’s website notes that the “Think Happy” speedboat is perfect for casting a line in Gambit Bay and reeling in a variety of catches — essentially confirming that fishing will appear as a formal activity in GTA for the first time.

If players can keep their catch, the game might introduce a new inventory system — or even cooking mechanics. Of course, Rockstar could also simply let players toss fish back to feed the dolphins. Diving gear visible on the speedboat further confirms that underwater exploration will return. Jason’s safe house also contains a Crest-brand kayak and a Dinka Enduro dirt bike, reinforcing the outdoor adventure theme.

Mud Clubs and Off-Road Racing

The 1967 Vapid Roadster Baja Edition is touted for its excellent off-road handling, suitable for areas like the Caragua Mountain wilderness — strongly suggesting that off-road racing will be part of the experience. Promotional text also mentions the “Mud Club,” and the first trailer featured a group of mud enthusiasts gathered around trucks with beer. Players will likely be able to join the Thrillbilly Mud Club and compete in its organized mud races.

Barn Finds: Classic Car Restoration

The Ultimate Edition includes a “special commission” tasking players with locating multiple abandoned classic cars and restoring them to their former glory. The mechanic closely resembles Forza Horizon’s “Barn Finds” and could evolve into a long-running side quest woven throughout the campaign. While the Ultimate Edition focuses on one classic car collection, the state of Leonida may offer other types of special commissions.

Vehicle mod shops are confirmed to return with expanded capabilities. Beyond traditional options like rims and paint, players can customize car interiors and convert standard vehicles into all-terrain versions with off-road conversion kits. The Ultimate Edition also provides a retro tuning package for Jason’s Vapid Bull — suggesting players may be able to purchase pre-assembled style packages to achieve a specific look in one go, rather than swapping individual parts.

The Return of the Grotti Cheetah

Grotti Cheetah classic design

The 1995 Grotti Cheetah stands out even without additional modifications. A series icon present since GTA III, the Cheetah returns with design cues inspired by the Ferrari Testarossa — a deliberate callback to the original Vice City — rather than the Ferrari Enzo-inspired look from GTA V.

Rockstar indicates the Cheetah will be used for “late-game operations,” suggesting Jason and Lucia won’t get their hands on it until the story’s latter half. The studio adds that Ultimate Edition rewards unfold across both protagonists’ entire journey, with new items revealed after each completed chapter — rather than bombarding players with pop-ups at launch. Some rewards may even come with dedicated missions or narrative beats.

Character Customization Goes Deep

Ultimate Edition promotional text reveals that several shops “operate exclusively for Ultimate Edition players,” including Hundred-Wheel Street Mods, One-Eyed Willy (two mod shops), as well as clothing stores, hair salons, and tattoo parlors. While the merchandise itself is exclusive, the shop types speak volumes about the scale of character and vehicle customization in GTA VI.

Hair and character customization

Both Lucia and Jason can change their hairstyles; Jason can also choose from different beard styles, while Lucia can get manicures — all courtesy of Sarah’s Neutral Salon. The city may feature additional salons catering to different clienteles with more granular services, and Lucia’s makeup system could include its own customization layer.

Jewelry and accessories

New screenshots show both characters wearing earrings, necklaces, and other accessories, indicating that customization won’t stop at full outfits — players may be able to individually select small accessories piece by piece.

Tattoos Meet Fine Art

Electric Fang is the Ultimate Edition’s exclusive tattoo parlor, offering over 50 designs created by Brooklyn-based art collective FAILE. Rockstar has a history of collaborating with real-world artists — the series’ radio stations feature licensed music, and television segments have starred comedians like Ricky Gervais. FAILE’s involvement further blurs the line between real-world art and the fictional universe.

Television and Tie-Ins

The Ultimate Edition rewards include a clothing set themed around Alligator Mecca, a popular in-game TV character from Leonida. Both GTA IV and GTA V allowed players to sit down and watch television with full programming schedules, so GTA VI’s TV will almost certainly remain functional — and Mecca, along with a cast of colorful animal characters, may formally appear on screen.

Jason’s safe house

Safe Houses and the Vercetti Estate

The house featured at the beginning of the second trailer is officially referred to as Jason’s “safe house.” Safe houses are expected to continue offering sleeping and save functionality, and may also include weapon lockers and other complex interactive amenities.

The Vercetti Estate on Starfish Island from the original Vice City remains one of the most iconic safe houses in the entire series. In GTA VI’s fully reimagined Vice City, Ultimate Edition content confirms the estate still exists: players receive two “Hawk and Little Morgan” revolvers that originate “from the Vercetti Estate.” While this doesn’t confirm a visit to the mansion or an appearance by Tommy Vercetti himself, it does signal Rockstar’s intent to strengthen ties between the PS2-era titles and the HD-era universe.

Customized revolvers from Vercetti Estate

The two revolvers from Vercetti Estate feature custom grips, engravings, and additional attachments. Jason’s version even mounts an enormous high-powered scope, modeled after the Equalizer revolver from Vice City Stories. The Ultimate Edition also provides custom semi-automatic pistols for both Lucia and Jason — suggesting that weapon customization goes beyond silencers and scopes, allowing players to express character personality through firearm aesthetics.

Separate Loadouts for Two Protagonists

The fact that Lucia and Jason receive individually customized weapons implies their loadouts won’t be entirely shared. If vehicles can store firearms like horses in Red Dead Redemption 2, then the number of weapons each character can carry on their person may be limited. Rather than pulling an entire arsenal from a weapon wheel at any moment, players may need to plan their equipment before each operation — perhaps sending Lucia in with a shotgun and SMG while Jason provides sniper cover from the rear. GTA V offered tactical choices through its three protagonists; GTA VI may push that framework even further.

Retro Vice City Style

Pre-ordering GTA VI grants the “Retro Vice City” pack, centered on the neon-soaked aesthetics of the 1980s. The first reward is the 1955 Vapid Stanier — the yellow-and-white two-tone sedan perpetually parked outside the Ocean View Hotel in the original Vice City. The vehicle also features space for storing and fencing stolen goods, reinforcing the idea that the contraband economy is central to gameplay.

Vintage Vice City Stanier

The “Retro Vice City” pack includes a weapon pattern — essentially a weapon skin — featuring bright blue palm trees from Tommy Vercetti’s iconic Hawaiian shirt. While the reward clothing and hairstyles don’t directly replicate classic outfits, Jason’s rolled-sleeve linen blazer unmistakably evokes Tommy’s light blue Soiree suit, and the lavender trousers echo the two-piece worn by lawyer Ken Rosenberg.

Red Dead Redemption Connections

In one poolside screenshot, a folded stack of dollar bills features an elderly man with a distinctive V-shaped notch in his beard and a matching hairline. Though a money clip obscures the face, these details strongly identify the figure as President Harding — one of the former U.S. presidents from Red Dead Redemption 2. Harding has appeared on $100 bills before, and similar currency has shown up in GTA Online updates. This detail once again hints that the connection between GTA and Red Dead Redemption may run deeper than mere Easter eggs.

From gang hideouts and underground fencing operations to fishing trips and barn-find restoration projects, GTA VI is shaping up to be Rockstar’s most mechanically ambitious title yet. The November 19 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can’t come soon enough.
