GTA 6: 22 Gameplay Details Revealed — Fishing, Barn Finds, Vercetti Estate, and More

With Grand Theft Auto VI now available for pre-order ahead of its November 19 launch, Rockstar Games has revealed the Ultimate Edition’s exclusive content, describing it as “a suite of exclusive premium vehicles, weapons, clothing, and activities.” Buried within those announcements, however, are dozens of gameplay details that paint the richest picture yet of life on the streets of Leonida. IGN has meticulously combed through every official description, screenshot, and trailer frame to compile 22 confirmed and strongly hinted gameplay features — from fishing to fencing stolen goods, and from restoring barn-find classics to revisiting a certain mansion on Starfish Island.

GTA 6 gang hideout concept

Gang Hideouts and the Stolen Goods Economy

Rockstar refers to the “Triggerfinger Youth Gang & Black Goods Warehouse” as a “gang hideout.” Players will need to raid the stronghold of one of Vice City’s loudest and most socially active gangs in the southern part of the city — a design that echoes the outpost-clearing mechanics found in other open-world titles.

After taking a hideout, players must escape safely to claim special items and unique contraband. Unlike previous GTA titles where collectibles were largely one-off pickups, the Ultimate Edition descriptions suggest that collecting and selling stolen goods may evolve into a full-fledged gameplay loop.

The Ultimate Edition’s exclusive ‘67 Vapid Dominator Baja is stored at Paradise Garage in Watson Bay. The garage includes a location to safely stash stolen goods and complete the fencing process — meaning players will likely operate some form of underground stolen-goods business. Sources for inventory will presumably include not just gang hideouts but also the series’ staple heist missions.

Weapon Lockers and Vehicle Inventory

Paradise Garage is equipped with a weapon locker familiar to GTA Online veterans. Historically, losing all weapons after a hospital visit or police arrest was a series constant; now, players can stash firearms in lockers ahead of time and retrieve them upon release.

The Ultimate Edition’s Shitzu “Think Happy” speedboat includes a “weapon crate filled with explosives.” The crate may be exclusive to bombs, or it could allow general firearm storage. The pre-order bonus ‘55 Vapid Stanier sedan also features a weapon locker. If both boats and cars can store weapons, vehicle trunks may function similarly to the horse inventory in Red Dead Redemption 2 — a limited, character-specific arsenal rather than a magical weapon wheel containing an entire military’s worth of firepower.

Fishing, Diving, and Off-Road Racing

The official description notes that the “Think Happy” is perfect for casting a line in Gambit Bay and reeling in various catches — essentially confirming that fishing will be a formal activity in GTA for the first time. If players can keep their catches, the game might introduce a dedicated inventory system or even cooking mechanics. (Rockstar could also just let you toss the fish back to the dolphins.)

Diving equipment visible on the “Think Happy” suggests underwater exploration will return. Jason’s safehouse also contains a Crest-brand kayak and a Dinka Enduro dirt bike, hinting at broader recreational activities.

The ‘67 Vapid Dominator Baja is described as having excellent off-road handling suited to the Calaga Mountain wilderness, making off-road racing a likely feature. Mentions of the “Mud Club” — previewed in the first trailer with a crowd of mud enthusiasts partying around trucks and beer — suggest players can join the Thrillbilly Mud Club and compete in organized mud events.

Barn Finds: Classic Car Restoration

The Ultimate Edition includes a “special assignment” tasking players with locating multiple abandoned classic cars and restoring them to their former glory. The mechanic closely resembles Forza Horizon’s “Barn Finds” and could develop into a long-term side activity woven throughout the campaign. While the Ultimate Edition grants exclusive access to a classic car collection, other types of “special assignments” may be distributed across Leonida.

Expanded Customization

Custom shops are confirmed to return with significantly more depth. Beyond traditional wheels and paint jobs, players can customize vehicle interiors and convert standard cars into all-terrain versions via off-road kits. The Ultimate Edition also provides a retro-themed modification package for Jason’s Vapid Bullitt, suggesting players may be able to purchase pre-configured style packages that apply a complete look in one go rather than swapping individual parts.

GTA 6 Grotti Cheetah

The Grotti Cheetah Returns

The ‘95 Grotti Cheetah needs no extra modifications to stand out. A staple since GTA III, the Cheetah is one of the series’ most iconic sports cars. While GTA V’s version drew primarily from the Ferrari Enzo, GTA VI’s Cheetah returns to the Ferrari Testarossa-inspired design of the original Vice City. Rockstar notes the Cheetah is reserved for “late-game operations,” meaning Jason and Lucia may not get behind its wheel until the story’s latter half.

Progressive Unlocks and Exclusive Shops

Rockstar states that Ultimate Edition rewards unfold across both protagonists’ stories, with new items discovered after completing each chapter. Rather than bombarding players with pop-ups at startup, rewards unlock at specific narrative milestones — possibly accompanied by dedicated missions or story beats.

Multiple shops “exclusively serve Ultimate Edition players,” including two custom shops (Hundred-Wheel Blast Custom and One-Eyed Willie’s), plus clothing stores, hair salons, and tattoo parlors. While the merchandise is exclusive, the shop types themselves reveal the scale of GTA VI’s character and vehicle customization systems.

Character Customization Depth

Both Lucia and Jason can change hairstyles; Jason can also choose beard styles, and Lucia can get manicures — all at Sarah’s Neutral Salon. The city may feature additional salons catering to different clienteles with finer-grained services, and Lucia’s makeup may include a full customization system.

New screenshots show both protagonists wearing earrings, necklaces, and other accessories, suggesting character customization won’t stop at full outfits — players may be able to individually select small accessories piece by piece.

GTA 6 accessories and jewelry

Electric Fang is an Ultimate Edition-exclusive tattoo parlor offering over 50 designs created by Brooklyn art collective FAILE. GTA has a long history of inviting real artists into its world — the radio stations feature countless licensed tracks, and GTA IV’s TV programming featured comedian Ricky Gervais. FAILE’s involvement further blurs the line between real-world art and the fictional universe.

In-Game Entertainment

Ultimate Edition rewards include a clothing set themed around Alligator Mecca, a popular Leonida television character. Both GTA IV and GTA V allowed players to sit and watch TV with full programming schedules, so GTA VI’s televisions are almost certainly functional — and Mecca with his colorful animal co-stars may appear in proper TV shows.

Safehouses and the Vercetti Estate

The house featured at the start of the second trailer is officially called Jason’s “safehouse.” Safehouses are expected to retain basic functions like sleeping and saving while potentially adding weapon lockers and other interactive facilities.

Perhaps the most nostalgic revelation: the Vercetti Estate on Starfish Island — one of the most memorable safehouses in the entire series from the original Vice City — still exists in the fully reimagined Vice City of GTA VI. Ultimate Edition players receive two Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers “from the Vercetti Estate.” While this doesn’t confirm players will personally visit the mansion to retrieve them, nor that Tommy Vercetti himself will appear, it signals Rockstar’s intent to strengthen ties between the PS2-era titles and the HD-era universe.

GTA has historically split its timeline into the “3D Universe” and “HD Universe,” but GTA VI may rewrite old rules or reconnect the two worlds somehow. The second trailer already confirmed that “Phil” returns via television, forming a bridge to the older games.

Weapon Customization and Character Loadouts

The Vercetti Estate revolvers feature custom grips, engravings, and additional attachments. Jason’s version even mounts an enormous high-powered scope, modeled after the Equalizer revolver from Vice City Stories. The Ultimate Edition also provides custom semi-automatic pistols for both Lucia and Jason, showing that the weapon customization system goes beyond practical attachments like suppressors and scopes — it also lets players express personality through aesthetics.

Lucia and Jason each receive their own customized weapons, confirming the two protagonists don’t share a universal loadout. If vehicles store weapons like Red Dead Redemption 2’s horses, both characters may be limited in what they can carry at any given moment. No more calling up an entire arsenal through the weapon wheel — players will need to choose loadouts before an operation. For example: send Lucia in with a shotgun and SMG for frontline assault while Jason provides overwatch with a sniper rifle. GTA V offered tactical options through three protagonists; GTA VI may push that concept further with two.

Retro Vice City Pre-Order Pack

Pre-ordering GTA VI grants the “Retro Vice City” pack, themed around the neon-drenched 1980s. The first reward is the ‘55 Vapid Stanier — the yellow-and-white two-tone sedan perpetually parked outside the Ocean View Hotel in the original Vice City. The vehicle also features space to stash and fence stolen goods, reinforcing the prominence of the stolen-goods economy.

The pack includes a weapon pattern — essentially a weapon skin — featuring the bright blue palm tree design from Tommy Vercetti’s iconic Hawaiian shirt. Bonus clothing and hairstyles don’t directly replicate the old designs, but Jason’s rolled-sleeve linen blazer clearly evokes Tommy’s light blue Soiree suit, while lavender trousers echo the two-piece worn by lawyer Ken Rosenberg.

Red Dead Connections

A poolside screenshot reveals a folded stack of dollar bills featuring an elderly man. The distinctive V-shaped notch in the beard and matching hairline are unmistakably President Harding — one of the U.S. presidents from Red Dead Redemption 2. Harding has appeared on $100 bills before, and similar currency has shown up in GTA Online updates. The detail adds weight to the theory that GTA and Red Dead share a world connection deeper than Easter eggs.

The 22 details paint a picture of GTA VI as Rockstar’s most simulation-heavy entry yet — one where fishing trips, garage restorations, and carefully chosen outfits feel as integral to the experience as high-speed chases and heist planning. With pre-orders now live at HK$568–708 and the November 19 release date locked in for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Vice City’s return is shaping up to be worth the wait.
