Huawei Rolls Out Xiao Yi Claw AI Agent to All HarmonyOS 5.0 Devices

Huawei has officially opened its “Lobster” Xiao Yi Claw AI agent to all devices running HarmonyOS 5.0 and above, the company announced today. Users simply need to update the Xiao Yi app to version 11.6.4.300 or later to access the intelligent assistant, which has been gradually rolling out since its debut at HDC 2026.

The launch marks a significant expansion of Huawei’s on-device AI strategy, making the Claw-class agent — which recently became the first terminal-manufacturer AI to receive a security certification from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) — available across the broader HarmonyOS ecosystem.

Flexible Pricing with Multi-Model Support

Huawei has also refreshed Xiao Yi Claw’s subscription plans to give users more choice in the underlying AI models. A ¥49 experience pack unlocks Auto-Model mode, which intelligently selects the best model for each task. The ¥199 standard pack, aimed at power users, allows manual selection from four foundation models: openPangu-2.0-Pro, DeepSeek V4-Flash, DeepSeek V4-Pro, and MiniMax M3.

This multi-model architecture is a notable differentiator. Rather than locking users into a single provider, Huawei gives them the flexibility to choose based on task requirements — DeepSeek for deep reasoning, MiniMax for creative generation, or Pangu for Huawei-native optimization.

A Growing Skills Ecosystem

Alongside the device expansion, Huawei announced that the Xiao Yi Skills marketplace now hosts over 500 curated Skills spanning categories such as messaging channels, smart office, knowledge retrieval, creative creation, lifestyle assistance, finance, and professional development.

The breadth of the marketplace suggests Huawei is betting on an ecosystem-driven approach rather than a monolithic assistant, similar in philosophy to third-party plugin architectures but with system-level integration on HarmonyOS.

System-Level Integration and Security

Huawei describes Xiao Yi Claw as offering out-of-the-box readiness with one-tap wake, self-learning capabilities with deep memory that improve over time, and multi-device collaboration across the HarmonyOS device family — enabling functions like managing phone calendars and memos from a tablet or smart display.

Xiao Yi Claw security certification

On the security front, the agent benefits from device-cloud synergy with HarmonyOS system-level hardening. The earlier CAICT certification underscores Huawei’s emphasis on trustworthiness, a critical factor as on-device agents gain access to increasingly sensitive personal data.

Xiao Yi Claw features overview

The full-device availability comes as part of Huawei’s broader developer conference (HDC 2026) announcements, positioning Xiao Yi Claw as a cornerstone of its AI-native HarmonyOS experience. With HarmonyOS now powering hundreds of millions of devices, the agent’s expansion signals Huawei’s intent to scale AI assistance across its entire ecosystem.
